I currently have a Nikon D3300 and learned from another thread that the D3 series doesn’t support AF while tethering. What are some Nikon cameras that would support controlling the AF while tethered to a MacBook running Smart Shoot 5?
I mainly purchased a Tether Tools cord so I can see photos immediately on my computer after taking a picture, which is what I wanted out of tethering; however, I’m looking ahead for when I would ever upgrade my camera. I’d like to get one that could support Auto Focus while tethering to a computer.
As you noted, some of the Nikon D3xxx series cameras do not support the ability to AF while using live view. These are the only cameras known to have this issue, so any Nikon camera outside of this model range would be unaffected by that issue. This includes all the compatible cameras that have been released within the past 4 years.
