Installed the trial, camera not detected

I just installed the trial. The standalone app doesn’t recognize my Nikon D800.
When I open Lightroom and tethering, my camera is detected by Lr. But still not by Smart Shooter 5.8
Any idea what is happening here?

We are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your connection. It is not immediately clear what might be causing the behavior you are experiencing.

The Nikon D800 is supported by Smart Shooter 5, so it should work.

There are several common issues that come up that could explain the behavior that you are observing.

First, we recommend testing the connection with no card(s) inserted in the camera. For some cameras, this will ensure that the camera enters the correct mode for tethering. While you should ultimately be able to use the card while tethering, this is a useful troubleshooting step since it will eliminate some issues that can be cause by cards.

It is possible that there is another piece of software that is intercepting the communication between the camera and the tethering software. You can learn more about this on this page. To avoid this issue, be sure that all other applications are closed and there is no software running in the background. In particular, please be sure that Google Drive and Dropbox are not running in the System Tray / Menu Bar. Lightroom Classic should remain closed during testing.

If you are attempting to use the Lightroom Classic Plug-In, please quit Lightroom Classic until you see the camera in Smart Shooter 5. Once the camera is available, please launch Lightroom Classic and initiate the tethered session. Additionally, Adobe has made some changes to Lightroom Classic that affect the Lightroom Classic Plug-In. Please see the notes at the top of this page.
