Fujifilm X-T3 & X Pro3 fail to shoot when connected

Returning to Smart Shooter after several months, and upgrading to version 5.8, I find the program (and Lightroom tethering) will not shoot successfully. While there is a very brief shutter noise, no image is transferred and the in use LED flashes continuously. All I can do is turn off camera, restart both programs and then encounter same issue. Camera will fire just fine without USB cable connected and image is recorded. I am set to USB Auto for connection, have tried disabling Smart Shooter plug-in to no avail - Lightroom tethering will not find cameras without Smart Shoot plug-in enabled. I am completely stymied - I cannot tether any way.

First off, the update to Lightroom itself have started to cause incompatability issues with Smart Shooter. For more explanation of that, please read the notes in the docs:

Can you try to tether with just Smart Shooter running?
That is, do not start Lightroom at all, and see if Smart Shooter is then able to connect and control the camera correctly.

Also note about the Fujifilm X Pro3 (and all X Pro models), these cameras do not support tethering at all.

As far as I know, Lightroom tethering does not support any Fujifilm cameras, so this is expected.

Thanks. I did try Smart Shooter without Lightroom open and had the same result - camera will not fire from either Smart Shooter or Lightroom Classic using shoot button. However it will fire using shutter release on camera and images show up in Lightroom and Smart sShooter. I have previously used both for tethering successfully (many months ago) and before adding Smart Shooter used a Fuji plugin to tether all my Fujifilm X cameras with Lightroom Classic.
